Arizona has always been one of my favorites states since I was a child. I’m breath taken by the red mountains, the fresh air, the extremely blue sky, the vegetation … t’s like being cast in a Western Movie.
After 6,5 hours of driving in my old Bronco I was beat. I had to pull over. Kingman was the nearest town and just in time for the Academy Awards I checked into a local Hampton Inn Hotel and feasted on home baked chocolate chip cookies and white wine on ice. Not bad. I even felt a tear pressing when the first female director ever Kathryn Bigelow won her Oscar… and Sandra Bullock won for best actress … hmmm I’ve never been her biggest fan untill I saw her today… I think she’ is cool.
Tomorrow’s schedule depends on the weather. If it rains I will head directly to Santa Fe, New Mexico. If we get shine I’m headed for sightseeing and soul searching in Sedona.
I gotta say; the ‘trucker life’ feels pretty damn good …
Yup, it’s true… I felt it coming for a while. It’s about time that I put on my cowboy hat (it’s Marc Jacobs and not Stetson, but hey it’s the new decade so who cares right..?), throw my suede chaps in the trunk and get on the road.
It’s time that me and my good oll’ Ford Bronco spend some alone time together burning some rubber. Who cares that she has run over 180.000 miles and makes weird jitters and noises around 45 mph. She’s steady as can be. So tomorrow when everybody in Hollywood is getting all hyped for The Academy Awards we are headed East – destination Santa Fe New Mexico.
I spent a lot of my childhood in Santa Fe. I used to go to school there and my afternoons were spent in company with my Arabian horse Bonar. A chestnut with one white sock. He could run like the wind and he loved to play tag.
I’m going to check in to cheap Motel 6’s, eat fries and shoot a lot of pictures of the vast landscape. Listen to country music form the local radio stations and just be…. No purpose no ambitions. (well except for …. I do have those 2 CD’s with French dialect and British RP dialect that I’d like to freshen up while I’m burning rubber headed East).
I still have family in Santa Fe and I can’t wait to walk around the streets and peak into galleries, enjoy perfect sunsets and listen to Coyotes at night.
And then, it wouldn’t be trip if I didn’t pay a visit to Sedona, Arizona. Since I’m starring in Sedona’s Rule, a feature Film that comes out later this Spring it seems appropriate to stop by. I don’t know if you have ever been to Sedona? I was there years back. Some people say it’s prettier that Grand Canyon and I can see that. It’s beyond beautiful, a very spiritual place …. and I can’t wait to visit it again.
Maybe I’ll bump into these guys ha ha ha :
Anyhow….. I will make sure to take loads of photos so you can get a whiff of the Wild Wild West Anno 2010 ….
