You have probably seen this picture from Ralph Lauren’s add before and overheard the dispute there has been about sizes of runway models. This particular example is über-last season, I know. But nevertheless; it’s so damn important that we focus on this today, tomorrow and in the future. That’s why I keep bringing it up.
Especially because I’ve seen this gorgeous model girl on Rose Bar in NYC, no makeup and in sandals. She is skinny, tall, gorgeous and NOT tooth pick – gross looking as the picture below. That picture is the result of some male retoucher who’s gone completely overboard in his own fantasy about young boys.
See, the problem with the fashion industry is that it (to a large degree) is run by men who love teenage or 20-something boys without curves and metabolisms like 3 year-old racehorses.
I cannot comprehend that Classy Mr. Lauren is falling for this fashion nonsense and has fired her. She’s the bomb! And what kind of signal is that to send to his potential costumers??? I know that he is selling a dream. But seriously! This is ‘anorexia-madness’ on speed and not a dream scenario that I or any of my cool inspiring friends would like to aspire to.

Some of you might know that I also blog on the Object Fashion Blog. A blog that I share with 7 other girls from the ‘It-cities’ of the World. London, Copenhagen, NYC, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Berlin, Aarhus and LA.
What I really enjoy about this blog is that it’s international and that all my fellow bloggers are so different. I’ve met the girls through previous jobs or they are my good friends or friends of friends. The blog becomes inspiring to me because of the versatility in style, tone and content. And I can write to the girls if I need traveling tips, shopping tips or an update on the best blogs right now. Most of these ladies are die-hard online-shoppers, which is both a blessing and suicide for my bank account.
Our Berlin blogger just posted some news about Berlin Fashion Week. And it is yet again obvious to me how retardedly different the LA Lifestyle and fashion scene is compared to the edgy underground of Berlin. Check it out when you have a moment!
Oh yes, and I totally forgot to tell you that I got a literary agent here in LA. Yes, no kidding!!!
We are discussion some very-very cool projects for TV, film, internet etc….. I’m sooooo friggin’ excited about it. Tell you more when I can….
